The Access Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you, or someone you know, who is experiencing a mental health crisis or are in need of substance use services. A person is in crisis when they are at risk of hurting themselves, someone else, or unable to provide basic care for themselves due to a suspected mental health issue. The Access Line Specialists will assess the situation and then connect you to the appropriate mental health or substance use services. Crisis services are provided to everyone in Santa Barbara County, regardless of their insurance status or age.

What to expect:

When you call, a Specialist will ask you a few questions. This is a quick process to determine the appropriate services for you or the person who you are calling for.

If the Specialist determines that you, or the person you are calling for:

• Are in crisis, they will connect you to the Mobile Crisis Team.
• Are in an emergency situation, they will connect you to 911.
• Need comprehensive assessment, an appointment will be scheduled.
• Would be better served elsewhere in the community (for instance, if you have private insurance and this is not a crisis), then the Specialist will recommend that you contact your private insurance and will offer a list of providers who offer low cost or sliding scale services.

If this is a life-threatening emergency please call 911 immediately.
